Anytime, Anywhere, Just Say...

I recently watched part of an interview with a pastor whose story has drawn a great deal of national and world attention in recent months. This pastor was released, this month, from a Middle Eastern prison. He detailed how he was beaten, threatened and interrogated during the three years of his imprisonment. He faced charges raised against him as he tried to share his faith and start an orphanage. During his time in prison he faced a long stretch of solitary confinement. He recalled how hard it was to be alone. Nonetheless he relished the opportunities he did have to encourage others such as a fellow prisoner. Through the entire experience this pastor said the best thing (and at times the only thing) he could do was... pray.

As I listened to his story I thought of a song which is played on Christian radio today. It is by the band 7eventh Time Down. These are the lyrics to one of the verses:

Whisper it now, or shout it out. However it comes out, He hears your cry. Out of nowhere He will come. You gotta believe it. He will rescue you. Just call out to the way, the truth, the life. (Then the chorus repeats) When you don't know what to say, just say Jesus. There's is power in the name, the name of Jesus. If the words won't come cause you're too afraid to pray... just say Jesus.

What a message of hope! No matter when we cry out, where we are, how we are feeling or what we are going through there is always one we can go to. Just say Jesus...
